Zhuhai News of Yangcheng Evening News--Reported by Huang Jue: Recently, the awarding ceremony of the 66th Benny Award of the American printing industry was concluded in Chicago. The album of photos Pursuing Dream in Wilderness by Chairman Yang of Great Aim Group won a gold prize in Benny Award.
It was introduced that launched in 1950, Benny Award is compared to "Oscar for Printing Industry". Hosted by the Printing Industries Federation of the US, the award was named after the nickname "Benny" of Benjamin Franklin, an inventor who had brought a revolution to the printing industry of the US and served as the president of the US. It is the most authoritative and influential product quality appraisal event of the printing industry.
The prize winner this time, Yang Feng, an entrepreneur of Zhuhai, used to be a leader in a state-owned enterprise. Later, he founded Great Aim Group and developed dozens of housing projects in succession. In 2013, he spent more than 30 million Yuan in buying the patents of white light communication technology. In the Phase I, he invested 2 billion Yuan to build a LED white light communication project headquarters in Hengqin New District of Zhuhai. Beyond busy work, Yang spent his leisure time for relieving pressure on hobbies such as calligraphy, photography and music. "I got my first camera at age 16", Yang recalled, when he began to learn photography, it was the Great Cultural Revolution. Originally he intended to join the army, but his qualification was cancelled. His parents sold a pig which had been raised for more than a year and used the money to buy him a Zhujiang brand camera. When Yang earned some fame for photography in his village, he was asked by the security team of People's Commune to "stop taking photos". Yang said, this experience in his childhood had left him an "unforgettable and bitter memory".
It was reported that in 2006, Yang accompanied his mother who was suffering cancer and returned to his hometown to fulfill his mother's wish to "returning to the roots". After that, he traveled to the west of the US to take photos for over 20 times in 7 years. He had adventured into Grand Canyon Colorado, rushed into the Death Valley, got lost in the snowfield and wadded across waist-deep water. Finally, he finished an album of photos Pursuing Dream in Wilderness. "To capture the first ray of sunlight in the early morning, we chose to camp at the Death Valley". When recalling the past experience, Yang said that the temperature difference between day and night at the Death Valley was very great. In the summer, the temperature was as high as 49℃ even in the shady area. To take a good photo, the cameraman usually has to face and deal with difficulty unimaginable to ordinary people. "With reverence towards the nature and respect for life", Yang explained his motif behind his travels to the west of the US for taking photos, "Though we can't stop the passage of time, with a camera we can capture and maintain unforgettable memories."
