"With the development of technology, the keyboard has taken the place of writing tools. Without a keyboard, a lot of youngsters can't write." Mentioning the original intention for the donation, Chairman Yang of Zhuhai Great Aim said, characters and calligraphy are both national quintessence of Chinese people. However, nowadays the calligraphy works passed down by our ancestors make no sense to many young people, which must come with a neat edition below the works.
Yang hoped that through the donation, the calligraphy teachers training program can set an example and promote the calligraphy teachers training for primary and middle schools across China.Zheng Xiaohua, secretary general of Chinese Calligraphers Association, introduced, this is the largest sum of donation received by the program up to date, which will be used to cultivate calligraphy teachers for primary and middle schools nationwide and calligraphy teaching researchers at the provincial, prefectural and county levels. Chinese people are increasingly weaker in handwriting
On the signing and donation ceremony held at the office building of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Several calligraphers who attended the ceremony said, under the impact of technology products such as computer and mobile devices, the calligraphy and handwriting ability of Chinese people has been weakening.
One calligrapher told the reporter of the daily, more than 50 years ago, every day they had a calligraphy class of 30 minutes. However, nowadays many kids do not practice calligraphy. Many young people resort to a computer even if for writing a letter. They can't write well. The problem has become increasingly prominent. "In 2009 Chinese calligraphy was listed by the UN as an intangible cultural heritage, which indicates that calligraphy has encountered a crisis. The problem has had a long history. There are many reasons, but the largest problem is a shortage of calligraphy teachers."
Some time ago, Professor Yuan Guanyu of Wuchang Shouyi University became an "online sensation" for criticizing the poor handwriting of students in the class of College Physics in Class 1407 of the electrical specialty. He showed his exercise book 40 years ago to the students, which was called "superb works" by quite many students for its neat handwriting.
Zhuhai is also faced with similar problem. "Nowadays other than students, teachers like me cannot write well, with a poor performance in blackboard writing" A junior high school teacher surnamed Liu said, who remembered a calligraphy class in which students usually practiced calligraphy for around ten minutes.
Su Shishu, a member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC and chairman of Chinese Calligraphers Association, said that he was touched seeing a Zhuhai enterprise so devoted to calligraphy and charity. "We have the responsibility and obligation to let our kids write Chinese characters well" Su said, the inheritance of calligraphy is faced with many problems. Like, as a result of the pursuit of a high score in College Entrance Exam, many students do not pay attention to their handwriting skill, for a poor handwriting does not affect their score. It has become urgent to enhance the handwriting skill of primary and middle school students. The most important issue is the issue of teachers. Quite some schools are in a shortage of calligraphy teachers.
